The Zugspitze - Germany's highest mountain

At a height of 2,964 m, the Zugspitze is Germany’s highest mountain and excellently situated for a day trip from the Hotel Zum Hechten in Fussen. It will give you an experience that will stay with you for a long time after your vacation in Bavaria. Whether you are a nature lover, looking for some sun, a skier or hiker - everyone will enjoy a trip to this mountain.
Going up to almost 3,000 meters
Experience the most beautiful things this unique mountain has to offer on the so-called "Zugspitze Round Trip". You can take the rack railway either from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from Grainau or Eibsee. Meter for Meter you will get closer to the summit, marveling at the panorama around you. For the way back down you can take the cable car.
The mountain station’s summit lounge is the perfect place to take in 360° views of the surrounding Bavarian Alps. Learn more at the Zugspitze exhibition with films, photos and interesting exhibits. The mountain station is also home to Germany’s highest-altitude internet terminal.
300 m below the summit is the Zugspitze glacier which can be easily reached by cable car. Here you can find a restaurant with outdoor terrace, lounge chairs and a glacier bar.
The Zugspitze summit can also be reached via the famous via ferrata!
