A treasure of pomp and fantasy

Once Bavaria’s eccentric king wanted Neuschwanstein all to himself. Reality seemed too intrusive and restless for him, so he wanted a place of retreat to which he could escape. It was to be a veritable grail castle, in homage to his companion Richard Wagner, whose work he greatly admired. This admiration is reflected in many places in the castle’s rooms. The furnishings, the paintings, and the entire interior decoration are magnificent, bombastic, and imaginative down to the last detail. It’s a castle where you can’t help but be amazed.
