Cross-country skiing – probably the best endurance sport in winter

Between Füssen, Pfronten, and the wonderful lake district, you will find wonderful cross-country ski trails in winter. Glide through the glittering landscape, either in skating or classic style and actively explore the surroundings. You won’t get easily bored: Around 300 kilometres of cross-country trails in and around Füssen will leave you spoilt for choice. From Füssen, you can seamlessly access the cross-country skiing network in the surrounding area (Hopfen, Weissensee, and Rieden).

Tips for cross-country skiing

To warm up, we recommend the loop to the boat harbour. The 2.6 km long cross-country ski trail leads along pleasant, even grounds. A special highlight is the snow-covered floodlit track on the Tegelberg directly below Neuschwanstein Castle. Here you can do your laps at dusk with a view of the fairy-tale castle. At the Hopfensee, at the Weißensee and at the Forggensee there are further wonderful cross-country skiing trails. There is something for every level and every day: flat trails, undulating trails and even high-altitude trails.

Healthy and fit with cross-country skiing

In order to stay fit and to improve your health, there is hardly any better winter sport than cross-country skiing. The rhythmical movement improves the circulation, is easy on the joints, trains the cardiovascular system and all big muscle groups.
